The Reading Between the Lines (RBTL) Book Club was conceptualized on October 07, 2001 by Kim Knight, facilitator. Her love of reading allowed her to set into motion the idea of this book club. The club actually started on June 24, 2003. RBTL started out with four members with the inspiration to grow to ten members. Each member brings a unique quality to the group.
Mission
The mission of the Reading Between the Lines Book Club is to read literature written by African American authors. Our ultimate goal is to give rise to our fullest and purest potential as readers. We engage in enthusiastic and enlightening monthly discussion. We encourage each member to share ideas to enhance member awareness on social , spiritual, economic and personal growth. We want to empower our members.
Meetings
RBTL meets once a month. The hostess will provide a meeting place. Along with the hostess, the facilitator ensures the discussions focus remains on the book. The facilitator will present readers with a series of questions related to characters and events in the story lines. Each member will foster a lively exchange of thoughts, opinions and ideas.
Membership
Membership consists of a network of book lovers. The size of the group will be limited to ten members, currently we have four. Membership is by invitation only.
